"Out of My Mind" Class response
Hello Reading classes! Today we will be blogging about our current class read aloud. Remember to write approximately 1 paragraph to the chosen response starter. *no real names - pen names only - THANKS!
Out of my Mind Response A conflict in this entire book is that Melody can barely move, or talk and that is a major problem for Melody because she wants to speak and wants to have fun and make friends and live a normal life. But sadly, she can’t talk. A way the problem got resolved was she got a computer that speaks for her. It’s a great tool for Melody, but it still isn’t her…and it’s a bit limited too.
Out of My Mind When we read Out of My Mind the previous day Melody had a conflict. She has a talking board to touch words to talk but she thinks that the words on there are not enough. She complains to Catherine that she cannot start conversations like other people can. To resolve the problem Catherine helps Melody look for laptops that be specialized for her to use easily. They find a talker system which Melody can use by pushing buttons on the talker and it says whatever she wants to say. She then shows Mrs. V, a teacher who babysits her until her parents come home. They look over the design and tell Melody’s parents. After that , they order it and Melody starts to speak.
Out of my Mind is a fantastic title for the book because Melody cannot talk or walk. Melody feels as if she has gone out of her mind trying and trying to tell people things and show her emotions clearly. But Melody is a sweet and kind and funny person, even though she gets very frustrated with herself. Melody has even said in the text in the book: ‘I feel like I have gone out of my mind.’ Therefore giving the book its fitting title of Out of my Mind.
(Setting and tone) The tone of this book right now is happy and touching because Melody just got a meditalker (I think it’s called) which allows her to talk to whomever she wants to talk to. It is a happy tone because of that because she’s been waiting for the meditalker for like FOREVER. Melody was really excited and happy. The tone is also touching because the author used words and phrases like, “… mom was teary eyed … … I realized I've never said anything directly to mom & dad before … ‘I love you mom, I love you dad’ …” Now for the setting. The setting is in Mrs. V’s house. Melody is there, Penny is there, and of course Mrs. V is there also. Melody’s parents come there later, because they’re at work. Melody is at the table where Mrs. V set down the meditalker, pressing buttons, trying to figure it out. Mrs. V is with Penny on like a couch or chair. That’s all I pretty remember of the setting. And yeah, this is it for my paragraph response.
Out of my Mind is a good title for this book because it kind of tells you how the main character Melody feels in a different way. It makes you think on how trapped she feels through Cerebral Palsy, she feels like a goldfish in a bowl trying to jump out. That’s where the picture on the cover helps it gives you hints about the book as you read trying to tell you how desperate she is. And that she is going to explode! On the cover it shows a goldfish jumping out of a bowl that shows that she is going to make a break through and come out of her cage.
Out of My Mind is a good title for this book because Melody cannot talk and she has so much to say. She is trapped inside her body and it is making her go out of her mind. She gets annoyed because she is treated differently and she doesn't like it. She is really smart but no one knows but her. She wants to prove herself but doesn't know how.
Out of My Mind is a perfect name for the story. The main character, Melody, cannot move or speak, and she’s starting to go crazy. However, she has made a friend, named Rose. Melody and her recently went to the zoo. But they ran into two bully’s from their school. Rose is their friend, but they make fun of Melody. Melody’s mom, dad and a nice big lady called Mrs. V. The two bully’s, Molly and Claire, had started to tease Melody. Rose and Mrs. V backed Melody up. Mrs. V towered over Molly and Claire. Molly ran, but Claire stood there, speechless, as Mrs. V taunted her. Melody hope’s one day there will be a solution to her disabilities.
Out of my Mind is a good is a good title for the book because Melody can’t do lots of stuff and its driving her crazy. It’s like she’s going crazy. She can’t talk or walk so she must be very frustrated. I would be going out of my mind too if I can’t talk or walk and can barely move. I feel bad for her because she wants to do things but she can’t.
Out Of My Mind Out Of My Mind is a good title for the book because in the story it says that melody is going out of her mind because she can’t walk or talk. Melody has a lot of traits like she is very smart and is aware of her surroundings like when she figured out that her mom was going to have a baby before her mom told her. One of my favorite parts in the book was when she did the best on one of the quizzes the class was doing and every one was really surprised. It made me think you go Melody. One of the saddest parts was when Molly and Claire were making fun of her it made me sad because it just shows you how cruel the world can be sometimes. The book has a lot of plot twists and crazy characters I would rate an eight out of ten because the book was good but some parts in the book were kind of boring like when they were in some of the classrooms it got kind of boring. But all in all it was a pretty good book.
Out of my Mind, what is there not to love about it , It has great detail , amazing characters , and not to mention the awesome story line….Well there is something that bugs me a little bit and it’s the title , Out of mind made me think it was going to be about a girl who has , mental health like insanity and paranoia. Now before you start have a rage fit on me saying “But she does have a mental disability!” Why yes I know that but before I read it I didn’t think it would be that disability , “But the back of the book says-“ Yes I know what the book says , But when I first read the book , I had it as a read a loud and my teacher never read the back. Now all I have left to say is that I find the title to have many meanings, It gives the reader an Idea about what it will be about , I just wish they could have made the title a bit more better.
Out of My Mind Out of My Mind is a good title for this book because it explains it all! It is saying how Melody the main character can only move her thumbs and she can’t talk. I personally think that the title is perfect for the book. Melody has a photographic memory so she remembers everything but can’t tell anyone about it. To be honest I bet if I couldn’t talk or move that much I would be sad and go crazy. I mean everyone around you are always talking and are able to communicate in other ways too. If you could only do what Melody could do wouldn’t you go out of your mind?
Out Of My Mind Out Of My Mind is a good title for this book because she is pretty much trapped inside herself. This frustrated Melody because she has a photographic memory. Melody doesn’t like it when people label her as “stupid” or “disabled”. She tries to get people to understand what she wants to do and wants to say. Melody has always wanted to talk, and after she got the medi-talker, she felt free. It’s almost as if she went “out of her mind” in a good way. She is getting used to the medi-talker and she loves it. I love the part where she tells her parents “I love you.”
Out of My Mind The characters, Molly and Claire have the following character traits. They are both mean, and they like to make fun of Melody, like when the special classes first came to the music room. Molly and Claire started teasing melody like when they said she was a “retard” because she couldn’t move like the other kid and she couldn’t talk like the other kids. But then the music teacher noticed Molly and Claire making fun of Melody, so she told them to stand for the rest of the class. But then they started teasing her again, and the music teacher told them they were going to stand in the music class for the rest of the week, so they shut up. Those are the traits of Molly and Claire.
Out of My Mind When Melody got the meditalker it caused Melody to speak and express her feelings, joke around and be happier. Mrs. V is my favorite character because she is tuff but she’s caring and believes Melody can do anything. My least favorite characters are Claire and Molly. They are mean to Melody and everyone else. They only care about themselves and total snobs. I like how the choir teacher actually notices that. Molly .I think that Melody’s school needs more teachers like the choir teacher and less students like Claire and Molly.
I think Out Of My Mind is a good title for the book because Melody felt like she was going insane. She felt like she couldn’t do anything. She wanted to be normal, but she had things to tell but she couldn’t. Now she has the meditalker and she can talk now like a normal kid. She is no longer out of her mind.
Out of My Mind is the best title because Melody Can’t do anything she can’t talk or move so she just has a whole bunch of thoughts she can’t tell. When Rose got a new computer it caused Melody to get the Medi-talker. Rose is my favorite character because, she got to be friends with Melody despite her appearance. Rose is also very kind because she actually went with Melody to the aquarium, like I said she is very kind.
Out of My Mind Molly and Claire are my least favorite characters in the book because they’re always mean to people. They wine a lot and they’re super annoying. They need to stop being rude and start being nice to other people, like Melody. I hope Molly and Claire will start being nice to their classmates later in the book. People would like them more, and they’d have more friends. If I was Molly or Claire I’d apologize to the people I was mean to, and I’d start being more polite.
Out of My Mind Out of My Mind is a good title for this book because Melody is driving herself out of her mind trying to communicate. She also wishes she could do stuff normal kids could do. Melody is driving herself crazy trying to be normal and not get made fun of. When she gets a device that she can talk on her life turns around. When she gets the device she can tell her family something she has never said before “ I love you”.
Out of My Mind Responses The cover of the book includes details of what’s going to happen in this book. In the book, the image represents Ollie, Melody’s pet fish jumping out of the fish bowl. Ollie at that moment felt like Melody does and jumps out of the fish bowl. Right now in “Out of My Mind”, Melody just got this med talker thing to communicate with people. When she showed it to her parents and talked to them, they cried with joy. They are still debating whether to bring the med talker to school or leave it at home.
A better title for this book would be “Frozen”, because in the book melody has cerebral palsy. She can’t talk or move. Melody is practically frozen.” Out of My Mind” is similar to a book that I don’t know the title of, but the boy in the book has autism. He’s smart, but others think he’s a crazy. He can’t control his body. Just like melody.
I think Out Of My Mind is a good title for the book because Melody is a girl trapped inside her own mind. And she would love to get out of it. But since she got the medi talker she is starting to crawl out of it. And I predict she will become one of the most popular kids in the school. I also think people will think of her differently such as Clare and Molly. And I think people will understand her better such as Mrs. V, Mom, and Dad.
“Out of My Mind” is a good title for this book because Melody can’t talk and has so much to say so she gets frustrated. She loves to tell friendly jokes and she is really smart. When she starts going to classes with kids she finds a friend named Rose. They both went to the aquarium together. Then one day in her usual class she sees that one girl has a computer that talks then melody really wanted one. So when she got home she told Ms.V all about it. Ms.V liked the idea of her having one, so Ms.V told Melodies parents and they liked the idea too. So when Melody gets her computer Ms.V puts a ot of words on it and when Melody’s parents get home they record Melody’s first words “I love you” so then they start crying.
Out of My Mind is the perfect title for this book because it is about Melody not being able to talk. But finally, in the book right now Melody is able to show that she is smart and show everyone what her feelings are by using a computer to talk for her. It is the best day ever for Melody’s family because she can talk. Someday I hope Melody is able to do more things and write. I think Melody would be a great writer if she had the chance. Melody was trapped in a room and was screaming for help and now finally she is out of that room and she is free.
Melody is my favorite character in this book because she is really smart and funny. She has a really good sense of humor and it really makes me laugh! She also is really smart because she has a photographic memory, but that also comes with problems, she has a certain disease that won’t let her speak, walk, or hold her balance. It is a shame that she has a photographic memory and cannot tell anyone what she is saying! She has millions of things in her head that she cannot say to anyone! She can describe ads from 2 years ago and could have seen them once. Until she finally gets a machine that can speak for her. It is her dreams come true. She can finally say the things that she wanted to say, she can finally say jokes to people! But once her mom and dad see her with it, she says I love you. And her mom breaks in tears
Out Of My Mind is a good title for this book because it is about ,Melody a girl who can’t talk and can move only a little. It is about her trying to get thoughts out, talk, make jokes and fit in. We are (as a class) at the part where Melody saw Rose with her computer and told Kathryn she wanted a laptop made for her so they searched the internet for what she wanted and needed. They found the Medi-Talker and when they got it that is where we left off. I personally think the Medi-Talker will be really helpful and can help Melody be more successful with it than the lame communication board.
Out of my Mind Response My least favorite character in the story is Dr. Hugely because he doesn’t care about Melody. He even gave her a test to see how smart she was. The test had a question (which animal has an offspring called a calf) where all of the options were the answer and Dr. Hugely just chose one to be the answer. When the test was over he said that Melody was not smart at all. He also said that they should get rid of Melody, but she understood every word.
I predict that Melody would be talking to everyone because she has a Medi-Talker. But some of the kids might be jealous and then break it. Then Melody would be devastated. Melody parents might sew the kid’s parents for the damage. And the kids who ruined it will be expelled.
Out Of My Mind is a good title for the book because, it really explains what Melody is going through. How she can’t talk and her mind is crazy with words. The cover of the book has a fish jumping out of a bowl. This is a good cover because, how she wants the words to escape from her mind and come out the mouth. If you were a fish in boring bowl how would you feel?
One of my favorite parts in Out of My Mind is when Melody got a machine that lets her express her feelings and talk to people. Melody got very excited. It meant she could tell everyone what she wanted and tell everyone what she felt like doing. She got frustrated when she couldn’t talk. Now she can actually talk like normal people. Now she’ll have a lot more friends and maybe even be popular in school. Mrs. V. took hours out of her busy schedule just to insert words into that machine. Things couldn’t be better for Melody.
Out of my Mind I predict that Melody will bring her talking machine to school. Then she will talk to everyone and show them how smart she is. Then Claire and Molly will try to find a way break it somehow. After that, Claire and Molly will try blaming it on somebody else if they succeed. Then if they succeed they will try acting innocent.
Out of My Mind is a good title for this book because it is about a girl named Melody. She has a disease that made her unable to move or speak. She has been laughed at her whole life. Then she got the medi-talker. It helped her get her thoughts, Out of Her Mind. So she could work hard like a normal kid. Now no one will laugh at her and she can show everyone how smart she really is.
Melody is my favorite character in this book. I think it is cool having to visualize what Melody is seeing in the book. Also I think it is cool to see how her life is changing from the beginning of the book to the end of the book. It’s also pretty cool seeing what people will do for Melody or do to Melody. I just love Melody and the book itself.

Plus, it even says in one part of the book that Melody is out of her mind. And when Melody wants to say something she gets really mad and is pretty much out of her mind. That is why Out Of My Mind is a good title.
The characters Melody and Clare are different because Melody is so sweet and nice and Clare is this demented brat. I know that because melody was nice enough to invite her friend Rose to the aquarium. And Clare came over and said rose are you lying to Melody that you’re having a good time. Another way there different is Melody’s disabled and Clare isn’t. And Melody has a photo graphic memory and Clare doesn’t.
Out of My Mind - When Melody got her Medi - Talker, she was so excited. For all those years, she couldn’t say anything to anyone, but now that she’s got the Medi - Talker, her life is going to change. Now, people will see how smart she is, how loving she is, and how she has a great sense of humor. People will finally be able to understand her. They'll be able to know how she feels, to know what she wants, to know what she wants to say to you. Now, she can say her thoughts aloud. I couldn’t even imagine what that must feel like. Hopefully, Melody will finally feel complete.
The character Melody is in a wheel chair. She can’t walk or talk. Her life is very hard, but she got a machine that helps her with her talking problem. She has a little sister that doesn’t have Melody’s disease. She can go to a regular school but she just can’t raise her hand for questions. She can at least communicate with her medi-talker.
I think that of Out of My Mind is a good title because Melody really wants to say things that she thinks in her mind out of her mind. Another reason why I think Out of my Mind is a good title is because it goes well with describing how she feels. The part where she started using that computer thing to help her communicate with others made me happy. It made me happy because she can finally say what she wants to say out of her mind virtually. I think that it’s cool how people create systems to help people do things that they mentally and physically can’t do but now they can and it relates to Melody on how she can’t talk and tell people what she wants to say but now that she has that system to help her she can.
Out of My Mind is a good title for this book because Melody has all of these words crammed in her head. But she can’t say them. Melody can’t talk, walk, or even move her hands. Melody is very smart. But she can’t show it. Molly and Claire are mean to Melody. But people are starting to stand up for her. Right now in the book Melody longed for the medi-talker. She gets it and she finally says to her mom and dad: “I love you”. Melody’s parents are VERY proud of her.
Melody can’t talk because of her disease that she has, so things are harder for her to do. So her mom and dad bought her the medi talker and she waits a long time for her medi talker. She gets home from school one day and she got the medi talker. Mrs.V went to see how to program things and Melody probably knew what she was doing. When Mrs.V finished putting in words for Melody said “ I love you “ to her parents.
Out of My Mind is a good title for this book because, when Melody gets the Medi-talker its “Out of My Mind” so it’s unbelievable that she can actually sort of talk to everyone, so the whole book basically changes after that. Also to me, the talking board isn’t the only thing “Out of My Mind” it’s also that Melody has photographic memory and she is basically smarter then everyone, but she can’t show it. ”Out of My Mind” is also a good title because, in the beginning of the book everything, like her thoughts stay in her mind, but now with the Medi-talker she can actually talk out loud instead of in her mind. I also predict that when she got the Medi-talker she thought about all of the children in other parts of the world that couldn’t get the Medi-talker, so I was thinking that she might donate it to them. I have another prediction that when she gets to school she might break it or someone else will, by dropping it or purposely breaking it.
The event 2 weeks ago reading reminded me of a time when my brother gave me his computer. A year later it broke because the pc was too full. So I predict that Melody is going to break her new computer. she might break it by over heating the computer. If she does break her computer, my prediction was right.
Out of my Mind Melody is my favorite character because she is very bright. Melody has a photographic memory and can remember lots of things, even if she was 4 years old. Melody wants to get her words out and tell people about stuff, except she can’t talk. The only thing that works is her thumb, she can’t walk either. Melody loves to read, well she hears someone read it on audio. Melody is funny and wants to say stuff like “Your outfit looks goofy.” Melody may be disabled but she has feelings to.
Out of My Mind is a good tittle for this book because she’s so smart but she cannot talk. She feels mad and sad because she can’t tell people what she feels or is thinking. She is probably the smartest person in the school but cannot show it. This makes her go out of her mind. That is way this is a good tittle.
Out of My Mind is a terrific title in this book. It’s awesome because it explains how Melody is frustrated through her life and she can’t talk so it’s very hard for her to communicate. She is living in her mind and she wants to show people how smart she really is even though it looks like she is mental. She is really a hidden genius. I bet she is very mad, frustrated, and sad. This would make me burst out of my mind to .
Out of my mind is a good title because it tells what Melody feels. Like she can’t speak but when she finally gets here talking wheel chair she can talk all she wants. Now she can say the entire thing she wanted to say here whole life. Now she can say all the answers she wants like this animal lay this or this plus this is this now she can get all of the word out of her mind (pun pun). And what she can do now is talk and talk.
I predict that Molly and Claire are going to get mad at Melody because she gets to talk with her medi talker. They are going to be jealous that she is going to be the smartest one in class. They might be mad and break the medi talker. Melody will have a huge tornado. That the teachers are going to get scared and might send her back home.
I predict that Melody is going to accidently brake the machine. She’s going to get really angry and smash it. This will make Melody feel sad and angry. She will have to use her communication tray to talk to people. It with make her more frustrated then she will ever be.
Out of my mind is a fun interesting story. It is different because it would most likely be a true story. It’s got real life problems. My favorite part of the story would probably be when Melody gets Butterscotch.it was so sweet when Butterscotch hopped out of the box and jumped on Melody’s lap! It was also really sweet when Melody was trying to tell her parents that she wanted to name her Butterscotch.
Mom calling her fat and laughing in a joking way, also when she tried to joke around with her aid her outfit was hideous but didn’t know how. Smart when in one of her classes she knew the answer before everyone, and when dr.hugely asked her which animal was called a calf and she knew all of them where called a calf. The character Melody possesses the following character traits.humorus because she made fun of her Patient when she waited for her mettie talker to come
After today’s read aloud I predict that Melody is going to ask Claire why they are always being mean to her. I predict that Melody might skip a grade. I predict that Rose will be excited when Melody talks to her. I predict that Claire’s dad might be Doctor Hugely. I predict that Melody might start talking by herself without the medi-talker .
Melody would be a good name for this book. because the whole book is about melody. Every chapter has Melody in it. Melody is girl with a dieses were she can’t move or talk. She has a great scene of humor. She is really smart. She is a great friend. If she could do anything in the word she would talk.
The character Melody is really smart and wants everyone to know it. Some examples that prove this are, the title where she is going out of her mind being stuck in her head. Melody has a good sense of humor because she didn’t like the outfit her aid, Catherine, was wearing and she said in her mind that it was hilariously stupid. Melody is also very sweet because when her puppy (that she got on her birthday) sat on her lap and rested there, she didn’t want to move and disturb it. Melody is a nice person because she loves her family a lot and she wants to show it.
I can relate to the character Melody because she has a photegratfted memory like her. Well not as much. My mom told me to remeber something when I was 5 and I still remember to this day. Melody goes throw a tought life and i do too. Like i said not as much as Melody.

It is a true story about a girl that has a disease and she cant really do anything. she always wanted to be normal and talk to others but she cant. until one day her parents by her a really exspensive machine that helps her. Her parents put in all the words that Melody is going to say. Then when that part is done she can type words and the machine says it. I thing out of my mind is great cause now she can talk and share stuff with her friends.
Out of My Mind is a good title for the book because Melody is actually going out of her mind. Melody is almost eleven and she has studied the exact same thing since kindergarten. The reason is because she has cerebral palsy. She can't talk or walk or move by herself. She has a photo graphic memory but no one knows because she cant tell anyone. everyone thinks her brain is as broken as the rest of her body. she has so much to say, but she cant say a thing. Until she gets her medi talker. Her medi talker can talk for her. Now she can talk to everyone and be friends with everybody. The problem is not everybody is ready to except the new melody. I am so excited to finish this book because its getting so interesting.
Out of my mind is similar to The Death Cure because Thomas and melody both have to overcome challenges. They are also very different because The Death Cure is a dystopian/fantasy book. Out of my mind is based off a true story. Thomas has to fight WICKED and melody has to find ways to live with cerebral palsy.

She can’t talk or walk so she must be very frustrated. I would be going out of my mind too if I can’t talk or walk and can barely move. I feel bad for her because she wants to do things but she can’t.

ReplyDeleteOut Of My Mind is a good title for the book because in the story it says that melody is going out of her mind because she can’t walk or talk. Melody has a lot of traits like she is very smart and is aware of her surroundings like when she figured out that her mom was going to have a baby before her mom told her. One of my favorite parts in the book was when she did the best on one of the quizzes the class was doing and every one was really surprised. It made me think you go Melody. One of the saddest parts was when Molly and Claire were making fun of her it made me sad because it just shows you how cruel the world can be sometimes. The book has a lot of plot twists and crazy characters I would rate an eight out of ten because the book was good but some parts in the book were kind of boring like when they were in some of the classrooms it got kind of boring. But all in all it was a pretty good book.
Out of my Mind, what is there not to love about it , It has great detail , amazing characters , and not to mention the awesome story line….Well there is something that bugs me a little bit and it’s the title , Out of mind made me think it was going to be about a girl who has , mental health like insanity and paranoia. Now before you start have a rage fit on me saying “But she does have a mental disability!” Why yes I know that but before I read it I didn’t think it would be that disability , “But the back of the book says-“ Yes I know what the book says , But when I first read the book , I had it as a read a loud and my teacher never read the back. Now all I have left to say is that I find the title to have many meanings, It gives the reader an Idea about what it will be about , I just wish they could have made the title a bit more better.

ReplyDeleteOut of My Mind is a good title for this book because it explains it all! It is saying how Melody the main character can only move her thumbs and she can’t talk. I personally think that the title is perfect for the book. Melody has a photographic memory so she remembers everything but can’t tell anyone about it. To be honest I bet if I couldn’t talk or move that much I would be sad and go crazy. I mean everyone around you are always talking and are able to communicate in other ways too. If you could only do what Melody could do wouldn’t you go out of your mind?

this book because its funny and it also how the life of someone so smart, but can’t even hold

ReplyDeleteOut Of My Mind is a good title for this book because she is pretty much trapped inside herself. This frustrated Melody because she has a photographic memory. Melody doesn’t like it when people label her as “stupid” or “disabled”. She tries to get people to understand what she wants to do and wants to say. Melody has always wanted to talk, and after she got the medi-talker, she felt free. It’s almost as if she went “out of her mind” in a good way. She is getting used to the medi-talker and she loves it. I love the part where she tells her parents “I love you.”

ReplyDeleteThe characters, Molly and Claire have the following character traits. They are both mean, and they like to make fun of Melody, like when the special classes first came to the music room. Molly and Claire started teasing melody like when they said she was a “retard” because she couldn’t move like the other kid and she couldn’t talk like the other kids. But then the music teacher noticed Molly and Claire making fun of Melody, so she told them to stand for the rest of the class. But then they started teasing her again, and the music teacher told them they were going to stand in the music class for the rest of the week, so they shut up. Those are the traits of Molly and Claire.

ReplyDeleteWhen Melody got the meditalker it caused Melody to speak and express her feelings, joke around and be happier. Mrs. V is my favorite character because she is tuff but she’s caring and believes Melody can do anything. My least favorite characters are Claire and Molly. They are mean to Melody and everyone else. They only care about themselves and total snobs. I like how the choir teacher actually notices that. Molly .I think that Melody’s school needs more teachers like the choir teacher and less students like Claire and Molly.
I think Out Of My Mind is a good title for the book because Melody felt like she was going insane. She felt like she couldn’t do anything. She wanted to be normal, but she had things to tell but she couldn’t. Now she has the meditalker and she can talk now like a normal kid. She is no longer out of her mind.

When Rose got a new computer it caused Melody to get the Medi-talker. Rose is my favorite character because, she got to be friends with Melody despite her appearance. ReplyDeleteMolly and Claire are my least favorite characters in the book because they’re always mean to people. They wine a lot and they’re super annoying. They need to stop being rude and start being nice to other people, like Melody. I hope Molly and Claire will start being nice to their classmates later in the book. People would like them more, and they’d have more friends. If I was Molly or Claire I’d apologize to the people I was mean to, and I’d start being more polite.

Melody is driving herself crazy trying to be normal and not get made fun of. When she gets a device that she can talk on her life turns around. When she gets the device she can tell her family something she has never said before “ I love you”.

ReplyDeleteThe cover of the book includes details of what’s going to happen in this book. In the book, the image represents Ollie, Melody’s pet fish jumping out of the fish bowl. Ollie at that moment felt like Melody does and jumps out of the fish bowl. Right now in “Out of My Mind”, Melody just got this med talker thing to communicate with people. When she showed it to her parents and talked to them, they cried with joy. They are still debating whether to bring the med talker to school or leave it at home.

Melody is practically frozen.” Out of My Mind” is similar to a book that I don’t know the title of, but the boy in the book has autism. He’s smart, but others think he’s a crazy. He can’t control his body. Just like melody.
I think Out Of My Mind is a good title for the book because Melody is a girl trapped inside her own mind. And she would love to get out of it. But since she got the medi talker she is starting to crawl out of it. And I predict she will become one of the most popular kids in the school. I also think people will think of her differently such as Clare and Molly. And I think people will understand her better such as Mrs. V, Mom, and Dad.

When she starts going to classes with kids she finds a friend named Rose. They both went to the aquarium together. Then one day in her usual class she sees that one girl has a computer that talks then melody really wanted one. So when she got home she told Ms.V all about it. Ms.V liked the idea of her having one, so Ms.V told Melodies parents and they liked the idea too. So when Melody gets her computer Ms.V puts a ot of words on it and when Melody’s parents get home they record Melody’s first words “I love you” so then they start crying.

But finally, in the book right now Melody is able to show that she is smart and show everyone what her feelings are by using a computer to talk for her. It is the best day ever for Melody’s family because she can talk. Someday I hope Melody is able to do more things and write. I think Melody would be a great writer if she had the chance. Melody was trapped in a room and was screaming for help and now finally she is out of that room and she is free.

ReplyDeleteMelody is my favorite character in this book because she is really smart and funny. She has a really good sense of humor and it really makes me laugh! She also is really smart because she has a photographic memory, but that also comes with problems, she has a certain disease that won’t let her speak, walk, or hold her balance. It is a shame that she has a photographic memory and cannot tell anyone what she is saying! She has millions of things in her head that she cannot say to anyone! She can describe ads from 2 years ago and could have seen them once. Until she finally gets a machine that can speak for her. It is her dreams come true. She can finally say the things that she wanted to say, she can finally say jokes to people! But once her mom and dad see her with it, she says I love you. And her mom breaks in tears
Out Of My Mind is a good title for this book because it is about ,Melody a girl who can’t talk and can move only a little. It is about her trying to get thoughts out, talk, make jokes and fit in. We are (as a class) at the part where Melody saw Rose with her computer and told Kathryn she wanted a laptop made for her so they searched the internet for what she wanted and needed. They found the Medi-Talker and when they got it that is where we left off. I personally think the Medi-Talker will be really helpful and can help Melody be more successful with it than the lame communication board.

ReplyDeleteMy least favorite character in the story is Dr. Hugely because he doesn’t care about Melody. He even gave her a test to see how smart she was. The test had a question (which animal has an offspring called a calf) where all of the options were the answer and Dr. Hugely just chose one to be the answer. When the test was over he said that Melody was not smart at all. He also said that they should get rid of Melody, but she understood every word.
I predict that Melody would be talking to everyone because she has a Medi-Talker. But some of the kids might be jealous and then break it. Then Melody would be devastated. Melody parents might sew the kid’s parents for the damage. And the kids who ruined it will be expelled.

ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite parts in Out of My Mind is when Melody got a machine that lets her express her feelings and talk to people. Melody got very excited. It meant she could tell everyone what she wanted and tell everyone what she felt like doing. She got frustrated when she couldn’t talk. Now she can actually talk like normal people. Now she’ll have a lot more friends and maybe even be popular in school. Mrs. V. took hours out of her busy schedule just to insert words into that machine. Things couldn’t be better for Melody.

I know that because melody was nice enough to invite her friend Rose to the aquarium. And Clare came over and said rose are you lying to Melody that you’re having a good time. For all those years, she couldn’t say anything to anyone, but now that she’s got the Medi - Talker, her life is going to change. Now, people will see how smart she is, how loving she is, and how she has a great sense of humor. People will finally be able to understand her. They'll be able to know how she feels, to know what she wants, to know what she wants to say to you. Now, she can say her thoughts aloud. I couldn’t even imagine what that must feel like. Hopefully, Melody will finally feel complete.

She has a little sister that doesn’t have Melody’s disease. She can go to a regular school but she just can’t raise her hand for questions. She can at least communicate with her medi-talker.

Another reason why I think Out of my Mind is a good title is because it goes well with describing how she feels. The part where she started using that computer thing to help her communicate with others made me happy. It made me happy because she can finally say what she wants to say out of her mind virtually. I think that it’s cool how people create systems to help people do things that they mentally and physically can’t do but now they can and it relates to Melody on how she can’t talk and tell people what she wants to say but now that she has that system to help her she can.

Also to me, the talking board isn’t the only thing “Out of My Mind” it’s also that Melody has photographic memory and she is basically smarter then everyone, but she can’t show it. ”Out of My Mind” is also a good title because, in the beginning of the book everything, like her thoughts stay in her mind, but now with the Medi-talker she can actually talk out loud instead of in her mind. I also predict that when she got the Medi-talker she thought about all of the children in other parts of the world that couldn’t get the Medi-talker, so I was thinking that she might donate it to them. I have another prediction that when she gets to school she might break it or someone else will, by dropping it or purposely breaking it.

ReplyDeleteMelody is my favorite character because she is very bright. Melody has a photographic memory and can remember lots of things, even if she was 4 years old. Melody wants to get her words out and tell people about stuff, except she can’t talk. The only thing that works is her thumb, she can’t walk either. Melody loves to read, well she hears someone read it on audio. Melody is funny and wants to say stuff like “Your outfit looks goofy.” Melody may be disabled but she has feelings to.
Out of My Mind is a good tittle for this book because she’s so smart but she cannot talk. She feels mad and sad because she can’t tell people what she feels or is thinking. She is probably the smartest person in the school but cannot show it. This makes her go out of her mind. That is way this is a good tittle.

My favorite part of the story would probably be when Melody gets Butterscotch.it was so sweet when Butterscotch hopped out of the box and jumped on Melody’s lap! It was also really sweet when Melody was trying to tell her parents that she wanted to name her Butterscotch.

ReplyDeleteThe character Melody is really smart and wants everyone to know it. Some examples that prove this are, the title where she is going out of her mind being stuck in her head. Melody has a good sense of humor because she didn’t like the outfit her aid, Catherine, was wearing and she said in her mind that it was hilariously stupid. Melody is also very sweet because when her puppy (that she got on her birthday) sat on her lap and rested there, she didn’t want to move and disturb it. Melody is a nice person because she loves her family a lot and she wants to show it.

Her parents put in all the words that Melody is going to say. Then when that part is done she can type words and the machine says it. The reason is because she has cerebral palsy. She can't talk or walk or move by herself. She has a photo graphic memory but no one knows because she cant tell anyone. everyone thinks her brain is as broken as the rest of her body. she has so much to say, but she cant say a thing. Until she gets her medi talker. Her medi talker can talk for her. Now she can talk to everyone and be friends with everybody. The problem is not everybody is ready to except the new melody. I am so excited to finish this book because its getting so interesting.
ReplyDeleteOut of my mind is similar to The Death Cure because Thomas and melody both have to overcome challenges. They are also very different because The Death Cure is a dystopian/fantasy book. Out of my mind is based off a true story. Thomas has to fight WICKED and melody has to find ways to live with cerebral palsy.
