  1. I am from the deep and the shallow,
From the water that runs cool against my skin as I dive in.
I am from fins and choppy scales, and the hunger of the dark blackness.

I am from the harsh, cold that gives you a slap.
From the soft breeze that runs up my arm.
I am from the freezing point to the hot, humid and sticky air.

I am from the soul of words,
And the crisp pages of the unforgettable ones.
I am from the books whose icy claws capture me prisoner.

I am from the ringing of my radio, a nonstop heartbeat.
I am from the instruments of all shapes and sizes.
From voice, a melody on its own.
And from pushing golden and silver buttons,
Which fill the house with an enormous sound.

I am from the heart of color,
And the stinging smell of the toxic paint singing its own song.
I am from the fresh and plain canvases waiting to transform.

I am from the leader to the follower,
    The entertainer to the watcher,
From the speaker to the listener,
And from all the supporters around me.

    I am from family,
    From friends, from others…..
    From me, myself, and I.

  2. I’m from baths in the kitchen sinks,
From humming my own little songs on moms shoulders,
To dad lifting me up to put the star on top of the tree.

    I’m from Grandmas and Grandpas,
    From Mom and Dad,
From all of the people I love.

I’m from the sweet aroma of apple bars,
To the pungent odor of my least favorite candle.

From those warm freshly baked apple bars,
To the freezing cold ice cream,
    From icy strawberries,
    to the warm juicy oranges.

From making tie blankets with my family out of fleece so soft,
To making crafts with my sister out of scratchy felt.

    I’m from ice crackling,
    To birds chirping,
    From winter winds screaming,
    To summer breezes whispering.

I’m from the pink sun setting,
    To the grey moon rising,
From the cold white snow to the warm green grass.

From the loud whistling of the trains at night,
To the soft chugs in the morning.

I’m from the LOUD screams at Vallyfair,
To the clanking of the roller coasters going up,
To the quiet tiredness of my family in the car going home from Vallyfair.

  3. WHERE IM from

I am from a wave of swans dancing gracefully in the water of lyrics, passion, and emotion,
The laughter of my peers as we tell amusing jokes to each other,
Singing with my classmates in the beautiful choir room,

I am form shopping with us girlies at the drastically oversized mall,
Chit chatting during math class before the noisy bell rings,
Jumping around, playing tag with my siblings,

I am from observing my favorite show “Barney” after school,
Being a legendary superstar in my childhood,
“Blue’s Clues” every Sunday with my elder sister,

I am from Jennifer and Jeremy,
    Pizza Fridays with my folks,
Situating the Christmas tree after Thanksgiving,

I am from the sand between my toes,
    The extremely sour lemonade,
From my damp swim suit that pastes to my body,

I am from the roller coaster forest,
    The icy North Pole,
    Silence but noisy Christmas Eve,

I am from the stream of tears I swam in during fourth grade,
From the tick tock of the clock,
To a land of my own mysteries banging on the door,

I am from my antique red, sparkly, and sequence tap shoes,
My old bike that has rust on the rim,
The excitement of my test results when I get and A,

    I am from work hard,
    Stand up for one another,
    And stay strong.

I am from a blistering hot August day on 2001
Church on Sundays to baptism after in a cool lake
From heaven above where I can see my grandpa once more
The poor flower afraid to bloom just to get eaten by my baby brother
Scary ghost shows and stories, tossing and turning, afraid of the ghosts in the basement coming to get me in my sleep
From baby squirrels abandon and cold to healthy and free
Crashing waves and rocking cruise ships, dolphins surfing and whales breeching
Hawaiian coconuts hanging, sign less roads, and thin one way roads and bridges
Night flights with twinkling lights below and day flights with my dad as the pilot to flying it myself
Crystal clear water in my one hundred gallon aquarium with huge fish
Wild horses grazing and galloping freely in amazing herds
The nature and plants growing around the wild horses only getting trimmed by their tough teeth and sharp hooves
From riding horses and gaining trust, cantering across trails and posting while trotting
I’m from the chill of a cool night and sprinting away from zombies
From turtle and frog hunting to sweat dripping off our foreheads
Tree climbing to crossing logs across river banks and cool, calm, flowing water below
Smooth river rocks and ruff tree and vines, long hikes and being jungle explorers with close friends
Icy lemonade and cool-aide sold for 25cents to many people driving by
Frosty finger-numbing snow that I make into a snow fort that’s warm and cozy and protects me from the icy winter wind
From soft fluffy snow as if baking flower, snow as it flies away with the pressure of my snow board as it hints the jump and lands perfectly with a swish and a crunch
The crack and swish of the ice and snow rushing away as it melts and it becomes spring
The arrow as it slices through the air and hits the target with a whack
I am from a fantastic family with love and faith.

I am from a fun day of dirt biking; strolling in the driveway, the sunset is about half way, a mixture between light and dark, the majestic colors glow on my back, orange, yellow, blue, and a little purple.

I am from looking for the most fun things to do while with my cousin, going out on a muddy day. Falling off into big mud puddles, coming back at the end of the day, or I guess when your engine is full of mud, and your seat is so slippery you can’t even turn without sliding off, getting home and spraying each other with the hose, so cold your bottom lip turns purple and blue.

I am from disappearing into the snow; leaving your family in a panic; is he stuck? Did he crash?

I am from staying up late on a Saturday night, running around outside, Chasing each other around the bonfire. Drinking pop, as we run we spill it all over our self. Being spooked by the creeks and cracking of the trees and the branches below our feet, seeing if we can scare each other scary things. Telling people things are things they aren’t in the distance.

I am from the true heart of a lacrosse player, tearing up the field with my spikey cleats; win or lose I still go hard.

From playing with your friends in the back yard to having the ball in enemy zone in the last 5 seconds of a game losing by one.

I am from wearing our game day jersey to school; showing our saber pride!

We are from the down pour of rain, flinging mud everywhere to leaving dust behind our tracks, sprinting on a breakaway under the glow of the sun.

I am from sandals with no heel strap when the weather changes from cold to hot,
In summer I’m mowing the lawn, twisting and turning around trees and other objects in the way, trying to keep a straight line,
In winter I am out shoveling the driveway and patio on the coldest and darkest days,
When I walk in the house the flood of warmth hits your cold face and you get a cold burn,

I am from the piano that is from my Great-Aunt’s house, it is chipped and old, when you play you have to keep your fingers up otherwise you might get cut,
Part of girl scouts wearing our tan vest, saying the promise with your pointer, middle, and ring finger sticking straight up standing side by side,
Playing my trumpet with the bell high in the air, its gold and silver make it strong and beautiful,
Praying in basketball that starts this week, I will be accepted for my effort, over time I hope I will get better and I will also be accepted for my improvement, not my skills compared to theirs,

I am from the wolves that are off the endangered list, because they are looked on as scary and mean,
I live in a house where there is at least one blanket in every room except the kitchen and the two bathrooms,
In a town where Canada Jam isn’t a thing except in my house where it is heaven on any bread toasted or not,
In my house a sharpened pencil with a useable eraser doesn’t exist even though we have a million pencils not even mechanical,

I am “Homework first!” with a smile and “How was your day” followed after,
Eating my mom’s stroganoff from our family secret recipes is delicious on toast, bread, or rice it is always delicious,
I hear “Watch your noggin’ noggin’.” All the time whether the fridge is opening and I am in the way or the trunk to the green van is closing and I am under it,
I rarely get lefse because it is only available part of the year, but with butter it will be in your hands one second than gone the next,

I am from my old dog that died when I was only two; I used him as a pillow or chewed on his fur,
Ignored by my cat that we got from a barn for free, they had over a hundred cats they just wanted them gone,
We had many fish that really didn’t mean much, but we always got more and more,
Adored by my dog who we rescued from the shelter he was also free but we will never sell him,

I am from walking to morning kindergarten with my dad, in winter my dog would pull me in the sled,
I always go down to his shop after school and turn on his little TV in the back and wait to watch my favorite show of a lemur,
When I was young my grandma would come over and help with our garden and we always got in mud fights,
When I got to my dad’s dive shop, before Zooboomafoo Mr. Rodgers was on and I always regretted the thirty minutes it was on,

I am from my loving mom and dad, who help me through everything,
My brothers and I either play outside, or inside and wrestling each other until we are sour,
My grandparents live fifteen minutes away at longest,
In my family we would do anything for each other, because that is who we are and where I am from.

  25. I am from a mother whose name for me is “Ja-Luke”, with a dad who calls Jordan princess, Jacob bud, and me bud, too. The kids call each other little boo (me), middle boo (Jacob), and big boo (Jordan). Occasionally, my mom calls us all “friends” bringing out the preschool teacher side of her.
I am from the thickest, most fantastic chicken and dumplings ever on the first day of school. Lobster dipped in warm, melted butter on my mom/brother’s birthday. With delicious yellow cake cupcakes and chocolate frosting smothered on to them, on my birthday.
I am from the competition to catch the biggest and the most fish at the cabin. Then, cleaning the fish and eating them deep fried (yum). Who can hang on the longest as we tube, who can survive the killer wave? I am from swimming all day every day at the cabin. Only to come to play games in the cool night air with the neighbors like ghost in the graveyard. Finally, we sit around and listen to the sound of the blazing, crackling fire as we roast s’mores to a perfect golden brown.
I am from winter snow forts taller than my dad! Making them like sand castles, but using the recycling bin instead of a bucket. I am from building snowmen to live in the fort and to guard it during the snowball fight. After we’re done, loser serves hot cocoa.
I am from the sweet aroma of Christmas cookies on Christmas Eve and the race to the bottom of the stairs on Christmas morning. An Easter egg hunt as competitive as the Olympics. With an enormous feast at Nana’s on Thanksgiving Day!
I am from a gigantic pool of leaves made in the fall. Twice my height and 4 times my arm span it has to be the biggest pile of them all. We had a high ledge to jump off of into the leaves, but the leaves stacked higher than the ledge.
I am from sharing a bathroom with a girl and girl that isn’t even close to knowing the true meaning of share. I no longer shower in there, because she took over and now I need to shower in my parent’s shower. It smells like a perfume shop in there, because she has 3 full cabinets of perfume and make- up and perfume. So I had to leave and use other bathrooms.
I am from bouncing on the trampoline. I love to play lots of games like Rolly Polly, Sting Ray, and my favorite The Old Wizard’s Dead. I have lots of fun, but it’s a pain to put away for the winter and set up in the spring. Also we have to sweep the rocks and leaves off a lot, but I guess it’s worth the fun

To biting into the juicy mean of the turkey leg on Thanksgiving.
    I am from Summer,
Cannonballing making enormous splashes into the chilly water, & bright sunshine,
The sensational warmth on your back and shoulders.
    Celebrating July 4th
Watching the shimmering purples, reds, and blues, with ground shaking cracks and booms…
From leave raking, the crunches of fragile leaves when you jump into the fiery colored leaf pile,
    And cold winters.
Whipping down steep hills, my cheeks flushed red, while snow nips at my face,
To the Christmas mornings. Scrambling to the stockings full of goodies. Then, tearing up the first present with eagerness.
    I am from fun.
From dancing to loud music, listening to the amazing voices of One Direction, bass making the whole house tremble…
To sleepovers with echoes of snorts and laughter. From playing in the rain, being foolish while water droplets trickle on your skin.
Watching films with the family & surround sound, as if they’re right there talking in the same room as you, feeling all the action, to enjoy all the excitement. From seeing Disney princess movies, wishing you were in Cinderella’s poufy, sparkly, blue dress.
I come from mountains of stuffed animals,
Cuddling with them in warmth & from fashion – flashy pink to furry boots; plus technology. The brightness of the PC 11x 15 computers, almost blinding.
I Am from, moms perfume that lingered in the air smelling like honey and flowers,
    From reading,
The times when my dad would read me Disney books& Dr. Seuss; enjoying all the colorful pages, listening to his interesting voices of princesses and talking animals.
    I am from FAMILY.
My mom has beautiful greenish, bluish, greyish, brownish, hazel eyes.
From My dad who cooks barbeque chicken, that’s very tangy and crispy,
    To my loving grandparents,
From my untamed wild monkey cousins,
Plus my annoying little brother always yakking in my ear, enjoying time with my playful pup- Cloe.
    And I love them.

  75. I am form cyberspace, getting my first laptop at 7, and learning how to program at the young age of 8. I have an unreal view on everything and I know I do. I’m smart I just will never be smart in front of anyone. People don’t exactly know how smart I can be and nobody ever will.
From video games on the computer to staying up all night killing Prometheans with Mountain Dew and earning double exp. I understand things basic things to some people others don’t quite understand. I understand how Masterchief was programmed sculpted colored smoothed and edited over and over and over.
I am from a series of theories, questions, and occasional answers. Though Answers are never a good thing because what is there to question if you already have everything answered. This world runs on questions but we don’t realize it. Imagine a bunch of lights all turned off in a square. Now let them blink. Occasionally they will make something that looks like a picture. Well now those lights are my brain, and those pictures represent a thought. That’s how my brain works.
I am from Putin a Canadian food me and my family always get whenever we visit. We will make it at home and the aroma and taste is amazing! It makes my mouth water just at the mention of its name. It’s one of my favorite foods and my family’s favorite food too. It is really good just for French fries gravy and cheese.
I am from Jodi and Mark but mainly from Mark. I am funny but only because I know what causes laughter. In order to be funny you have to know what makes things funny. If you would want to know you should look it up. I have lots of inside jokes that I share with everyone well I have… jokes.
I am from smart people like my dad and from country people like my mom. I am a realist I feel sad or happy correspondingly. Sometimes I go into a zone, a trance, or a place. Where I think and nobody is there to tell me I’m wrong, weird, and weak. I wish i was in that place 24/7. I never have that happen.
I am from time by my self in my room for countless hours with the lights off playing video games and thinking about life. These are the things of where I am from and what make me different.

I’m from food like spicy wings, delicious pizza, juicy ribs, and sweet pears, are all my favorites.

I’m from a room that has a ps3, television, pet, bed, bean bag, and a computer. Those are things you will find in my room.

I’m from weather that is freezing in the winter and warm in the summer.

I’m from football with all friends and family. Hang out with them all the time, and play with friends all over the world with my ps3. Play the computer with or without my friends. Favorite thing to do is go on Facebook.

I’m from people who are sometimes lazy, like to eat, and work hard to make a living.

I’m from a black dog named Sully and he likes to play rough but, when he done he is sweet and then likes to play fetch and other games.

And that is what makes me me.
